I was working in Austria when I got a message from an unknown number I thought about the text & thought I think I know who it is but not certain, so I replied asking the person to confirm who it is. The text came back confirming it was Iris explaining that she was coming back to Malmesbury. We agreed we would go out for a drink which we did after I asked her mum if I was allowed to take her daughter out for a drink. but I had to have her back home by 2200hrs. We got back sat outside where Iris was staying & sat & talked like we hadn't been apart.

Iris moved down to Ilfracombe where her mum & Brian were living. We spoke everyday on the phone arranging when we could next see each other. Iris moved back to Malmesbury & the Christmas of 2010 we got engaged. We always said that we would get married once Maggie & Brian moved back to Malmesbury. They moved back in 2013, so we looked into finding a venue. We went to look at one venue (Matara) & that was it we planned our wedding for April 2016. 

Iris was diagnosed in November 2015 with Secondary Breast Cancer after having pains around her right shoulder blade. Iris started Chemotherapy in the January 2016. In April 2016 we got married & went on honeymoon to the Elan Valley straight after her last course of Chemotherapy.

Iris fought hard for the best part of 5 years with the Cancer traveling to different organs. Iris never let her illness change who she was, The Cancer then moved to her brain at the end of 2019 & she fought so hard throughout but we sadly lost iris in the February 2020.

Iris always thought of others before herself she truly is missed. She was mine & her families world, As a couple we supported both Second Hope & Wiltshire Air Ambulance. We did a fundraising event in aid of Second Hope back in 2017. In 2021 I  thought it was right to involve both charities that were very special to Iris. so I did a Wingwalk in Iris' Memory & we raised just over £5000.
